THE BEST AREA RUGS UNDER $250

You know how when you become an adult, you learn that there are certain things that are way more expensive than you ever thought possible? Like, why do good throw pillows cost $50??? That’s how I felt about area rugs when I first began decorating my first apartment. When I was starting out, it felt basically impossible to find a decently-sized rug that looked nice without breaking the bank. After years of feeling overwhelmed by rugs, I’ve found some great resources like Overstock.com, Rugs USA, Rugs.com, Boutique Rugs, Wayfair, and even Walmart.com and Home Depot that have beautiful rugs for reasonable prices. Although in a dream world I’d have a home filled with stunning vintage rugs, they’re just not in my budget right now. But even though I can’t afford vintage rugs at this stage of my life, that doesn’t mean I’m willing to sacrifice aesthetics or quality! If you’re in the same boat, check out my roundup below of the best area rugs under $250!

1. Loloi II Wynter Area Rug – In case you didn’t already know, I’m here to tell you that I am seriously obsessed with Loloi rugs. I actually really love that they’re printed instead of woven and they have so many gorgeous options. The navy tones in this rug add some interest without making it too out there, which makes it the perfect neutral rug that can still add an extra pop to a room.

2. Loloi II Skye Area Rug – One of the designers I follow on Instagram (I wish I could remember who it was!) posted a video of this rug a couple of months ago and I instantly loved it. The pattern is stunning and the tones are warm without feeling too beigey. This rug would be a great base you could plan an inviting living room around!

3. Borowski Area Rug – While I typically gravitate toward rugs that are neutral but still include a few different colors, I think this super neutral rug is so pretty. The pattern makes it interesting despite the muted colors and I love how the ivory and grey could tie the cool and warm tones in a room together.

4. Beige Eldorado Rug – After years of fervently hating anything that remotely resembled the color brown, my love for wood tones has encouraged me to slowly incorporate some brown accents into my home. I’m surprised by how much I love this rug. The rich colors and intricate pattern kind of give me Amber Interiors vibes and I’m 100% here for it!

5. Alexander Home Tremezzina Rug – This rug is more colorful than the ones I’d typically go for, but I can’t get enough of it. I’ve already purchased rugs for most of the rooms in our house, but I’m actually considering this one for our office because I think it would look absolutely stunning in a room with darker walls. I can’t get over how well it incorporates pink and purple tones without feeling “girly” – it’s so so good!

6. Picadilly Area Rug – I’m always impressed when designers can marry warm tones and cool tones and this rug does it so well. The warm ivory undertones and cool blue tones work perfectly together and I think this rug would give any room an instant upgrade.

7. Gray Oregon Area Rug – I know the description says this rug is gray, but the photos show a blue tint, which makes me love it even more. It also comes in an ivory color that’s equally stunning but currently sold out. The pattern on this rug is so pretty and the colors would definitely add interest to any room.

8. Halma Oriental Area Rug – If this rug looks familiar, it’s probably because I bought the 9×12 version for our bedroom! The photos really don’t do this one justice. While it looks a little more one-dimensional online, in person it has so many pretty neutral tones and the pattern is gorgeous. If you have a room where you like to change up the decor ever so often (like I do with our bedroom), this rug would provide a great neutral base!

9. Safavieh Vintage Light Grey/Ivory Area Rug – I’ve had great experiences with Safavieh rugs and I so wish I had a spot in our home for this one because it’s stunning! The pattern gives it a feminine feel but the colors keep it neutral. This rug would be the perfect finishing touch in an office or workspace, or a runner size could be just what you need to make a walk-in close feel a little more luxurious!

10. Alexander Home Leanne Rug – The detail shots of this rug give me MAJOR heart eyes! It’s printed rather than woven and the pattern is amazing. The mix of colors isn’t something I’d typically go for but somehow they work in this rug. It would look stunning next to a cognac-colored couch like the one shown in the sample photo!

11. Light Grey Vintage Medallion Rug – I purchased this rug for our living room right after we moved in and I still love it just as much as I did the day it arrived! The little pops of black add some nice contrast and it has just enough beige to warm it up without making it feel blah. The colors are neutral so it’s perfect for a space like a living room where you might want to switch up pillows and other decor seasonally!

12. Alexander Home Isabelle Rug – Obviously no rug roundup would be complete without THE rug. In case you hadn’t noticed, this rug is probably the most popular rug on the internet right now. I’m pretty sure every single design account I follow on Instagram has it, and I even have two versions – a runner in our kitchen and an 8×10 in our guest room. But hey, it’s popular for a reason. I swear this rug is magical – it has a way of pulling different colors from the room depending on the rest of the decor so it looks amazing in any room. I can confirm that this rug lives up to the hype and I can’t recommend it enough!
